The Pinawa Foundation is a community foundation and registered charity supporting Pinawa Manitoba. Pinawa lies on the northern edge of the Whiteshell Provincial Park, just 110 kilometres from Winnipeg. Pinawa derives its name from the First Nations people who lived in the area; the landscape was referred to as “pinnowok” or “calm waters”. Situated on the Winnipeg River, the town is a recreation paradise offering sailing, canoeing, fishing, hiking, swimming, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing. Pinawa’s section of the Trans Canada Trail, includes mixed forest, granite ridges, and beaver dams. The town is home to one of Manitoba’s best golf courses, situated along the shores of the Winnipeg River and Pinawa Channel. The town is also famous for its deer, often seen throughout the town on your morning walk.
The Pinawa Foundation distributes funds to local charities that work in the areas of Health and Recreation, Social Services, Education, and Arts and Culture. The Winnipeg Foundation, Canada’s oldest community foundation, manages our endowed funds and provides management advice. The Pinawa Foundation offers a variety of giving tools to help people and organizations achieve their charitable goals, offering a simple, powerful, and highly personal approach to giving.
